This guy ended up working really well in the game. I didn't know what a Skeksie was when I painted this but people have pointed out that he kind of looks like one, heh. Mainly this was using an existing skeleton, so I was trying to make him look as different from the monster he's based on (he was kind of a lava monster I think) as I possibly could.

Hellgate Patch 2 Splash

This was the splash screen and downloadable wallpaper for Hellgate: London's Abyss Chronicles. The "darkform" character design was done by my lead, Lee Dotson, and I merely painted him in a pose in a scene that looked like our new area, The Abyss. Mainly just trying to make some exciting new art to get people excited to play the first time they loaded up the new patch. It was also kind of a fun exercise in a rather odd color combination
This started out as a pencil sketch and I just painted it out in Photoshop CS2. I modeled her guns in Sketchup 6.0. ~40 hours I think.
Comments and critique are very welcome

This illustration was done for the Girls' Thunderdome on conceptart.org. The theme was fairy tales, and I chose the Grimm story The Girl Without Hands http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/grimm031.html. I chose the story because it was disturbing and creepy, so I wanted to get the same feeling for the illustration. I also wanted an Old Master look to the colors so I used a restricted palette of mostly yellows and reds, no green and very little blue. I used a few webcam shots of myself for reference.
